Dr. San Chan
Dentist
San migrated from Malaysia at 18 years of age and completed his VCE at Templestowe High School. Following VCE he attend the Dental School at Melbourne University where he attained his degree of Bachelor of Dental Science. After graduation he practiced in Lower Plenty, Warburton and Croydon finally settling down in the Frankston area.
On 31/3/1991 he started his practice in Langwarrin in what is now called Langwarrin Gateway shopping centre. In 1996 San established the practice at 123 Cranbourne Frankston Road Langwarrin & in 2012 completely rebuilt the facility to what it is today.
San lives in Camberwell with his wife Fiona who is also a Dentist & three children, two of whom live away from home studying at University. Jason, the eldest is a Law/Science graduate, Rachael is qualified dentist and Nathan the youngest is studying physiotherapy in Albury/Wodonga.
San enjoys treating patient’s of all ages but particularly likes to assist patient’s who require dental cosmetic rehabilitation.
San is looking forward to streamlining the two practices as they embrace caring about patients with a whole health outlook. Dentistry has changed and it is no longer just about drilling and filling. We are the same practice but want our patients to feel good about their smile which is reflected in our new name.
San tries to play golf in his free time but fishing is his passion, especially fly fishing.
Dr. Joseph Nguyen
Dentist
Joseph is a general dental practitioner who has worked part time at Smile Centre Langwarrin since 2013 after graduating from University of Melbourne. He also works in public dentistry, helping people who can least afford access to oral health care, and is a current member of the Australian Dental Association.
His philosophy is centred towards patient comfort and minimally invasive dentistry. Joseph has a keen interest in root canal treatment, crowns and bridges, as well as gum disease prevention and management. He partakes in conferences and seminars regularly to keep up to date with the latest advances in dentistry and provide best outcomes for his patients. Joseph has a great reputation at Smile Centre Langwarrin, especially with our young patients who ask to see “Dr Joe the cool Dentist.”
Outside of the surgery, Joseph enjoys travelling abroad and trying out Melbourne’s fantastic culinary scene.
Dr. Afreen Nikhath
Dentist
Afreen graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore, India in 2005, moved to Australia in 2014 and took up her Australian Dental council exams. Before moving to Australia she was practicing dentistry in India in public and private sector in her own clinic.
After passing her ADC exams in 2014, Afreen practised dentistry in a private clinic in Sale Victoria. After practising for almost 3yrs in Sale she recently moved to Clyde and started working at The Smile Centre Langwarrin.
Afreen enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and her main aim is to bring smiles on her patients faces. She has a keen interest in root canal treatment, cosmetic and preventive dentistry. Afreen is a member of the ADA and attends regular professional development conferences and courses to keep up to date with the latest advances in dentistry.
Afreen has 3 daughters and loves spending time with them and enjoys cooking different cuisine food for her family and friends.
Dr. Hiral Desai
Dentist
Dr Hiral Desai is a fully accredited dentist in Langwarrin Smile Centre with more than 15 years of clinical insight and experience under her belt.
She specializes in the provision of a thorough, comprehensive diagnosis after detailed analysis, taking into account a patient’s unique situation, circumstances and medical history.
As an associate practitioner at Langwarrin Smile Centre, Dr Desai is able to administer a spectrum of multifarious dental services ranging from prevention to crowns, bridges, implants and restorative surgery.
Hiral aspires to achieve bright, beautiful and healthy smiles that are aimed to not only enhance aesthetics but also the longevity of teeth and gums for life.
Dr. Venuka Logeswaran
Dr Venuka grew up in south east Melbourne and moved temporarily to Bendigo where she graduated from Latrobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry and a Masters of Dentistry BHSc(Dent) MDent(Latrobe).
Venuka works both in public service as well as at The Smile Centre. She is committed to exceptional and ethical patient care, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for helping people.
Her particular dental interests include cosmetic and restorative dentistry and she is always updating herself with the most up to date continuing professional development courses in order to deliver the highest standard of oral health care and treatment for her patients.
Outside of dentistry, Venuka loves getting strong at the gym, boxing, playing netball, listening to many podcasts and reading for leisure. She also doesn’t mind unwinding with a cheeky beverage or two on the weekends or a lazy Sunday brunch just like a typical Melburnian!
Dr. Yuval Samuni
Specialist oral surgeon
BMedSc, MSc, DMD, PhD, MHA
Yuval Samuni is a Dental Board of Australia Registered Specialist Oral Surgeon with a special interest in Implant Surgery.
Dr Samuni obtained his Dental degree in 1996 from the Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Dental Medicine in Israel and completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2004. He also obtained a PhD in biochemistry and undertook a post-doctoral fellowship in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health in the USA. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration.
Dr Samuni also has experience in academia, having published multiple book chapters and articles in peer reviewed international journals on various topics including implant dentistry and bone regeneration.
Dr Samuni is highly personable and attentive, and is able to maintain professional and warm relationships with his patients. He has vast knowledge and extensive experience, having performed thousands of surgical procedures including implants and bone augmentations.
Dr Samuni is happily married with three children. When not at work, Dr Samuni enjoys reading biographies, cooking and walking with his wife and two dogs along the beach.
