Welcome to our practice. Dr. Chan and his team have been serving the community of Langwarrin since 1990. Formerly called Langwarrin Dental, we are looking forward to meeting you and helping your family have the healthy and attractive smiles that you deserve.
Meet Our Team
Dr. San Chan, BDSc (Melb)
San migrated from Malaysia at 18 years of age and completed his VCE at Templestowe High School. Following VCE he attend the Dental School at Melbourne University where he attained his degree of Bachelor of Dental Science. After graduation he practiced in Lower Plenty, Warburton and Croydon finally settling down in the Frankston area.
On 31/3/1991 he started his practice in Langwarrin in what is now called Langwarrin Gateway shopping centre. In 1996 San established the practice at 123 Cranbourne Frankston Road Langwarrin & in 2012 completely rebuilt the facility to what it is today.
San lives in Camberwell with his wife Fiona who is also a Dentist & three children, two of whom live away from home studying at University. Jason, the eldest is at ANU studying a Law/Medical Science degree and Rachael is in Bendigo studying to be a Dentist. Nathan the youngest is studying Year 10.
San enjoys treating patient's of all ages but particularly likes to assist patient's who require dental cosmetic rehabilitation.
San is looking forward to streamlining the two practices as they embrace caring about patients with a whole health outlook. Dentistry has changed and it is no longer just about drilling and filling. We are the same practice but want our patients to feel good about their smile which is reflected in our new name.
San tries to play golf in his free time but fishing is his passion, especially fly fishing.
Dr. Kiran Gupta, BDSc (Adel) - Dentist
Kiran graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2000 and gained her Bachelor of Dental Science. After graduation she worked as a locum in South Gippsland with DHSV and andalso in several Community Health Centres. During this time, Kiran also worked at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne but particularly enjoyed her experience with School Dental at Eastern Health which gave her the opportunity to work with children of all ages.
Kiran has worked in the private sector since 2002, beginning in Bayswater before starting full time in Langwarrin in 2005. Kiran has been a valued member of Langwarrin Dental & is excited about the new direction we are taking as The Smile Centre Langwarrin.
Kiran understands that many people don't enjoy dental visits, which is why she tries to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for her patient's. Kiran's aims are for her patients to feel in control of their appointment to alleviate their apprehension and develop trust. Experience has shown that this will enable patient's to continue their dental education with her and establish long term goals to promote optimal dental health.
Kiran enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, treating children, making their time in the chair fun & pleasurable and also has an affinity with our senior patients and those who have individual challenges.
Kiran is a member of the ADA and attends regular professional development conferences and courses and has also participated in charity work overseas.
Kiran has a 19 year old daughter who is studying at University and enjoys music, playing her sitar, reading and travelling.
Dr. Joseph Nguyen, BDSc (Melb) - Dentist
Joseph is a general dental practitioner who has worked part time at Smile Centre Langwarrin since 2013 after graduating from University of Melbourne. He also works in public dentistry, helping people who can least afford access to oral health care, and is a current member of the Australian Dental Association.
His philosophy is centred towards patient comfort and minimally invasive dentistry. Joseph has a keen interest in root canal treatment, crowns and bridges, as well as gum disease prevention and management. He partakes in conferences and seminars regularly to keep up to date with the latest advances in dentistry and provide best outcomes for his patients. Joseph has a great reputation at Smile Centre Langwarrin, especially with our young patients who ask to see “Dr Joe the cool Dentist.”
Outside of the surgery, Joseph enjoys travelling abroad and trying out Melbourne’s fantastic culinary scene.
Dr. Anna Huang, BDSc(Syd) - Dentist
Dr Anna Huang graduated as dentist in 2009 and has been working as a dentist in both private practice and public health settings.
At work, Anna likes spending time with her patients before starting dental treatment. Anna believes in quality dental care in gentle manner.
Anna started her career at Westmead Hospital where received training under many dental and medical specialists and rotated through various dental departments including Paediatrics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, IV sedation, Emergency, Special Needs, Medically Compromised and Anaesthetics. Anna’s private practice experience includes both general dentistry and dental sedation in metropolitan and rural areas across the country (she is a Dental Board of Australia endorsed dental sedationist). Anna takes time off private practice every so often and sees patients in remote areas of Victoria with the Royal Flying Doctor Services.
Anna enjoys taking her children to the bike park, decorating specialty birthday cakes, traveling, and spending time with her husband.
Dr Brandon Sim, BDSc - Dentist
Originally trained as a software engineer, Brandon spent many years in the IT industry before he headed back to University to study dentistry. Since graduating from La Trobe University dental school in rural Victoria, he has worked in private as well as public clinics, including NSW Health and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland section).
Brandon loves meeting new people and to work with them for their dental needs. He is a big believer in minimally-invasive and preventive dentistry. Apart from general dentistry, he does have a strong interest in dental sleep medicine to help patients manage snoring, sleep apnoea and bruxism (tooth grinding). Brandon regularly attends professional development courses on a range of topics to stay abreast of developments in dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, Brandon happens to be an avid computer gamer, technophile and foodie. Being somewhat multilingual, he is able to converse in basic Mandarin and Hokkien.
